Roundup 102: Favorite Dog Articles & Videos of the Week

Last updated on December 27, 2018 By Puppy Leaks Leave a Comment

From the tough subject of behavioral euthanasia to the story behind the best tweet ever, here’s some of my favorite dog articles of the week. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.

Favorite Dog Articles of the Week

The Reality of Behavioral Euthanasia | Dr. Jen’s Dog Blog
Wonderful article on a very tough and often misunderstood subject. “Be kind, and don’t judge unless you’ve been there yourself.”

Why I DON’T Train My Client’s Dogs to Heel | 4Knines
Love this post about why walking is about more than just physical exercise for our dogs, and why letting them sniff is so enriching. “Next time you head out on a walk, let them sniff to their heart’s content.”

How We Feed Our Dogs Can Make Them Smarter | Michael Baugh
This 100%. Giving our dogs little jobs to do throughout the day, like working for their food, is one of the easiest ways to build focus and engage your dog’s mind. “Animals (and human animals) who successfully learn challenging skills are more likely to be successful at subsequent challenging skills.”

When Your Partner Doesn’t Want a Dog | The Bark
Great article about respecting your partner’s opinion when it comes to getting a dog. One of my pet peeves is how simple some treat the act of getting a new dog. I know it doesn’t have to be complicated, but the ‘buy now, ask questions later’ mentality seems pretty short-sighted. (I know, I know, it works out sometimes…but there’s still millions entering shelters each year)

By The Way, United Has the Worst Record on Pet Deaths, Too | LA Times
Not to pour more salt in the wound….OK maybe that’s exactly what I’m doing.

Michigan Woman Mistakenly Brings Dog to Furry Convention | Click on Detroit
In case you were curious about how one of the best tweets ever originated.

my mom thought furrycon was a pet event and volunteered w our therapy dog ???? pic.twitter.com/mizlydLxjl
