Paralyzed Dogs Love Playing Fetch In Their Wheelcarts

Gritta Goetz runs an animal sanctuary, Gnadenhof Lanzenhainer Rasselbande, in Lanzenhain Germany. She rescues badly beaten and abused dogs.

One of Goetz’s dogs, Rina, was paralyzed when after her former owners used her for target practice. She survived, although 20 projectiles had to be removed from her body. Two of them had lodged in her spine, causing inoperable damage.

Since Goetz opened her animal sanctuary she has rescued more than two dozen dogs, eight of whom get around using carts. Check out this awesome video of Goetz taking some of her paralyzed dogs out to play fetch in their wheelcarts.

The world is a better place with people like Gritta Goetz, she’s giving these dogs a chance to live their life to the fullest. The dogs at her sanctuary seem so happy; it’s hard to imagine they were once severely abused.

She says the dogs enjoy fetching a stick: “They are fast enough to get it. And the smallest paralysed dog is the one who can protect the stick against everybody. If she gets it, even the leader has no chance any more.”
